Summary
This pooled analysis investigates death outcomes in patients with pharmacologically treated and blood pressure-controlled hypertension. Despite documented BP control, some patients still suffer fatal cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, renal, or unexplained syndromes. This study aims to synthesize available evidence across study types to identify treatment pitfalls, contributing syndromes, and non-BP factors associated with these fatal outcomes. February 14th, 2026. Total search hits: 9,297 articles from your hypertension-mortality PubMed strategy Working dataset: 2,547 unique records. Screened so far: 50 (2.0%). Mostly excluded because: Not the right treatment strategy. No mortality outcome. Less often: wrong population.
Detailed description
This pooled review seeks to identify and analyze these populations' contributing factors, comorbidities, treatment contexts, and physiological mechanisms associated with mortality of documented treated hypertension. Data will be collected from peer-reviewed studies and registries. Statistical analysis will include descriptive synthesis, subgroup tabulations, and exploratory regression. Open-label analysis aims to investigate death outcomes among patients with treated and well-controlled hypertension by synthesizing results from published clinical trials, observational studies, and systematic reviews. The study will statistically evaluate endpoints, including fatal cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, renal, or vascular events, in patients in any arm with documented blood pressure control, with clearly visible evidence. Current study status This project is an evidence synthesis and pooled analysis of previously published clinical studies; no new participants are enrolled. The prespecified electronic search in PubMed/MEDLINE via Sysrev returned 9,297 records. After removal of obviously out-of-scope topics and duplicates, 2,547 unique records remain in the MOCH master dataset for title and abstract screening. As of Valentine's Day, 14th February,2026, 50 / 2,547 records (2.0%) have undergone title/abstract review. 15 records (30%) are potentially eligible for full-text assessment, and 35 records (70%) have been excluded at this first stage, mostly due to wrong intervention/exposure or lack of mortality outcomes. Full-text retrieval, risk-of-bias assessment, and quantitative pooling have not yet started.
