Summary
The data for this retrospective study were collected from the records of patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) for burns at Hospital La Paz from January 1, 2019 to May 31, 2023.
Detailed description
The complete medical records of 710 patients admitted to this burn ICU were reviewed. Patients older than 18 years were included, regardless of burned body surface area (BBS (%)), who met the criteria for admission to the ICU for burns according to the American Burn Association \[17\]. Therefore, a total sample size of 465 participants was recruited. A sample were recruited by a consecutive sampling method using a successive and non-aleatorized simple method. Subjects were enlisted from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for burns at the La Paz Hospital (Madrid- Spain).
